Who Needs to Take Code of Ethics?

The National Association of REALTORS® requires that all members take Code of Ethics once they join a Board. The Code is what sets REALTORS® apart from other real estate professionals. When you take the Code of Ethics class, you are stating that you will follow a strict Code of Ethics promoting professionalism and an ethical real estate practice.

NAMAR requires that all new members take a combined course of Orientation/Code of Ethics within 90 days of joining. NAMAR offers this class for $30 and you receive 3 CE credits.

Every REALTOR® is required to complete Cycle 7 Code of Ethics training between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2024 . New members who have joined NAMAR after January 1, 2022 and attended the Orientation/Code of Ethics have already fulfilled this requirement. All other members must complete the training by December 31, 2024 or their membership status will be suspended. (Current members should have taken Code of Ethics for Cycle 6: 2019 -2021).

If you are transferring from another Board of REALTORS® , please send along with your application, a Letter of Good Standing or a Certificate showing that you have taken the Code of Ethics Course.
